《刺客信條3》是育碧旗下的系列大作，該作將采用最新的引擎Anvil 2.0開發，能夠表現上千名士兵作戰的場面，同時還包含高細節度的畫質，面部表情等。
本作的新英雄主角自稱“Connor”，真名叫“Ratohnhake:ton”，拼作“Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo”，父親是英國人，母親是北美原著民，即印第安人。他在文明修養國度的之外的莫霍克村落長大。
游戲核心主題仍然為“刺客對決聖殿騎士”，通過美國革命來講述，不過重點不是有關贏得革命，主要的劇情是講述康納的旅程。在這個劇本裡，不是所有的美國殖民拓荒者都是好人，也不是所有的英國殖民軍都絕對壞。游戲將向玩家表現，刺客與聖殿騎士都有灰色地帶。“聖殿騎士不是帶來世界末日的，他們認為自己是來拯救世界的，通過掌控它。”游戲也將包含其他的力量，法國人和印第安人。“康納”將在戰場與政治的內外影響歷史事件。同時康納的任務也對我們的現代主角Desmond有影響。
