《伊爾2：多佛白崖》全新建模，為了制作高度擬真的戰機及分系統，開發人員花費了數千小時進行專項研究，戰機每個部分都可受創並因此產生一系列後效應。
可用戰機開放所有乘員位。游戲匯集英、德、意三方共十余種戰機，每種可用戰機的每一個乘員位都向玩家開放。開發方保證座艙細節及內部設施均精益求精，還原度極高（比如噴火、飓風、梅塞施密特，及斯圖卡）。
傀儡機友情出演。另有13種由AI操縱的戰機也會出現在雲端以符合歷史設定並提升戰場氣氛。
該作飛行走廊設定為倫敦-南英格蘭北部-法國北部-比利時一線，地形地物均參照1940年實景制作。游戲具備單機劇情，玩家扮演英國空軍一方，對抗德機及變節者（據說還有德方戰役）。
游戲還內置多種多人模式，從最簡單的一對一纏斗到自由開火再到可容納128人參與的超大規模空戰，戰役可持續數小時、數天、數星期，甚至更長。
