Elder Games制作的《破碎起源：聯合守衛者》於2008年中期進行開發，是一款關於星球戰爭的策略游戲。由於人類無止盡的戰爭和對資源的開發，地球已不再適合居住，一個叫做'Guardians'的組織以救世主的身份出現，幫助人類在外太空生存，並建立了“軍事委員會”來保護人類的安全。一開始，號召聯合的“Guardians”給人類帶來希望，但是隨著越來越無法遏制的權力，“Guardians”的一些當權者開始變得狂熱起來，濫用權力屠殺平民，他們的真實面目也漸漸暴露。於是無數革命分子從“Guardians”手中盜取飛船開始脫離了聯合組織的控制，大概兩百萬的被“Guardians”稱為“星際海盜”的異軍在隨後的幾年內又聚集了更多了加盟者。兩方勢力開始進行戰爭，歷史學家稱之為“破碎起源”，而這場戰爭一旦開始便進行了兩百年。這就是人類的本性，所謂的聯合、所謂的守護，即便是背負著星際流浪的命運，也無法阻擋人類互相斗爭。

In Shattered Origins: Guardians of Unity, you lead the
Guardian fleet through a dangerous universe, hunting the
Pirate horde. This chase will lead you to places no one
has ever seen before, and before you realize, the fight
becomes much more than that: a struggle for survival,
and the uncovering of a terrible secret which soon turns
our world into something else
