《Dear Esther》本是一個來自Source引擎的HL2 Mod，曾贏得MoD DB網站2010年的Editor’s Choice和09年Indiecade環境及敘事方面的獎項。
　　作品特點是擺脫了傳統的第一人稱游戲敘事手法，營造內涵豐富的互動環境供玩家自行探索：
　　該Mod原由英國樸茨茅斯大學的Dan Pinchbeck開發並於07年首次公布，現由Robert Briscoe(鏡之緣的關卡設計師)接手重制。他表示自己會與原作者Dan Pinchbeck展開合作，還找來作曲家Jessica Curry重新為該作編曲，最終目的是要讓這部作品走上商業發行的道路。
　　Briscoe和Pinchbeck於09年向Valve展示該作時贏得了Valve的好感，從而拿到了Source引擎的獨立發行授權，為接下來的商業發行掃清了障礙。他們計劃於年內推出這部別具一格的第一人稱冒險游戲。
該游戲的風格就是以驅逐各種鬼怪為基礎的，日前，官方公布了《Dear Esther》游戲將於2012年的美國情人節之時推出（也就是2月14日），登陸Steam平台，售價為9.99美元
