「Piranesi空間彩繪專家」是由Informatix英國公司與英國劍橋大學都市建築研究所針對藝術家丶建築師丶設計師共同研發的「3D立體專業彩繪軟件」。「Piranesi」這個商品名字是取自18世紀意大利建築家兼藝術家Giovanni Battista Piranesi (柏拉尼西)的名字。
「Piranesi空間彩繪專家」融合了傳統3D CG彩繪系統(Rendering)正確的透視圖處理丶光和影的處理與塗繪(Paint)軟件的操作性丶表現力，以及手畫系統的柔軟性，提供全新的彩繪環境。不需調整復雜的參數，也不需要反復花費時間進行彩繪(Rendering)計算，彩繪的結果實時顯示在眼前。能夠反復自由地添筆丶訂正，一步一步構築圖像，在3D畫布上完成各式各樣手繪風格的圖畫，簡單且短時間內制作出表現豐富的展示用彩繪成果，結合SKETCHUP是一對天然的建築表現搭檔，建築師在很短的時間內能通過SKETCHUP創作的草圖再進一步的通過彩繪大師Piranesi的碰繪最後形成水彩風格的建築作品以及商業級的效果圖。
「Piranesi空間彩繪專家」具有自己特殊的文檔格式－Epix(Extended Pixel file)，任何3D軟件所建構好的3D文檔只要存成3D DXF文件都能經由本系統所提供的程序，轉換成Epix文格式(目前提供3D Studio MAX丶VIZ丶MicroStation的Plug in程序，可直接在這些軟件中存成Epix格式)。因此只要建立好立體模型，不用進行曠日費時的材質軸設定丶貼材質與彩現(Render)計算，利用記錄於畫像中的景深(Depth)丶材料(Material)名稱信息以及場景中物體的形狀及面的傾斜度，將2D影像當作立體空間來繪制，快速塗繪材質丶配置點景，達到「What you see is what you get(即看即所得)」直覺式的設計觀念。
