CentOS Linux 是一個依 GPL 規范,及利用 RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 的源代碼 (source code) 來重新編譯 (compile) 的 Linux 版本.
CentOS 提供和 RHEL 的 Binary 檔案幾乎百分之百兼容性,相同的版本 (Release) 和維護 (Maintainence) 更新時間.和 RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 不同的是,CentOS 依 GPL 的規范,移除了 RedHat 品牌及圖片.
