William Legrand是一個出生於落魄家庭的孩子，1827他前往南卡羅來納州的沙利文島逃難。在海上漂泊時，他發現了一隻罕見的蟲子，由金子構成。William用一張紙片去承載它，並於當天晚上在這張紙上繪畫。紙片不慎掉入了火堆，上面的隱形墨水逐漸顯露。William認爲這是一張海盜地圖，幫助他去尋找寶藏。
