"The Cathedral" is a Tomek Baginski’s almost seven-minute
short animated movie, based on the story of Jacek Dukaj. The
movie got an award at Siggraph 2002 (Best Animated Short), the
biggest world-wide market of computer graphic and special
effects that took place in San Antonio in Unites States. In a jury
verdict from Siggraph 2002 we can read: "This submission was
selected as the Best Animated Short by unanimous vote of
the Computer Animation Festival Jury. The extraordinarily rich
visualization achieved in 'The Cathedral' was a seduction for the
CAF jury. It was viewed repeatedly, and each time the jury
became more entranced. It is a beautiful animation - very
representative of the outstanding work we received from small,
highly creative production companies in this country and
internationally". "The Cathedral" is seen as one of the best in
this movie category, what allowed to try and get Academy
nomination in the Best Animated Short category in year 2003.
"The Cathedral" hasn’t got an Oscar®, but got some other
rewards in 2002 and in 2003.
